You’re next!

To all you pseudo anarchist militant cyclists who roam the streets of Manhattan, the clock is now ticking for you as well. Up to now, cyclists have believed they would be able to do whatever they wanted to do when riding their bikes but it may well be times are changing. As the city has installed these pretty little bike lanes, the other shoe is dropping. Cyclists are now viewed as another source of revenue for the city, another target for tickets:

The point of the crackdown, police sources said, is to show cyclists they're not above the law.

Cyclists and pedicab drivers are subject to the same rules of the road as motorists, a source said.

Similar to drivers, some summonses are for traffic court, while others are for criminal court — which means a cyclist or pedicab driver could be issued a bench warrant if he doesn't show for his court date.
Excuse me while I laugh heartily, it’s probably only the beginning. File this under: Be careful what you wish for.
